to Rincon National Park with Paul from Blue Crab Adventures. It was the best experience of our entire vacation! We went horseback riding, zip lining, white water rapid tubing, volcanic mud baths and hot springs! We also ate an excellent lunch. We were gone all day and it was worth every minute! Paul picked us up at our hotel in Tanmarindo in a roomy late model air conditioned van and gave us door to door service with a smile. Paul is a warm and friendly young man. PERFECT experience with Blue Crab
I saw this in a testimonial on Blue Crab’s website before we went to Costa Rica and it perfectly applies – just give this man your money. Your not going to find a better group to take care of your needs for the price.
We reached out to Blue Crab ahead of time (email address easily found on their website) to arrange an airport transfer to Tamarindo, but they’re very easy to locate on the main Tamarindo beach. Chances are Ronald will be there regardless of the time of day, eager to answer your questions – he’s extremely knowledgeable and knows the area better than anyone you’ll find.
We didn’t necessarily intend to take an ATV tour, but it was one of the best things we did. Paul drove us to the rental place and led us on our tour. I didn’t know I could get so much out of a 2 hour activity – the areas we drove around in (mostly Flamingo, I believe) were beautiful and it really made me appreciate why people go to Costa Rica and don’t come back. The local towns we drown through were so pleasant, riding on the beaches was really cool, and we stopped at a gorgeous beach at the end to swim and relax. The money was so well spent and I loved every minute of it.
I can’t say enough about the full day tour we did with Paul. He drove us to the location in Liberia, which took about an hour. Good luck trying to horseback ride, white water tube, zip line, see a waterfall and visit a volcanic hot spring for under $140 – and with a free delicious lunch! The day was perfect and we didn’t feel rushed. The guys leading us through each activity were friendly and fun. The views were absolutely breathtaking and we finished the day feeling like we had done everything Costa Rica had to offer, just in one day!
We rounded out our trip by booking a catamaran tour with Blue Crab and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. The boat was beautiful, the crowd we were with was pleasant, and the crew on the boat was awesome. We saw humpback whales up close, went snorkeling, had a great lunch, and an open bar for the whole time.
We went into our trip with nothing planned, but Paul and Ronald were extremely flexible and eager to accommodate us. On top of the activities Paul recommended restaurants and beaches. We ended up having the trip of a lifetime, and it was entirely thanks to Blue Crab. Thank you Paul and Ronald, we couldn’t be more appreciative!

Paul’s the best, a super easy going guy who just wants everyone to have an amazing time on their vacation or trip to CR and Tamarindo. He was extremely accommodating, drove us all over CR and even offered to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. Paul’s been in CR for 3 years or so now, so he can answer all the questions you might have.
We were unsure what to do while we were in Costa Rica, so Paul made all the right recommendations, between what and where to eat and hang out in Tamarindo and the surrounding areas, what tours he thought we might like, and everything went perfectly for us. The ATV tour was a blast, a very fun route through beaches, up hills, dirt roads, and we stopped a few times to get refreshments, relax and look at the incredible views. The full day adventure tour was an incredible price for all of the activities, being horseback riding, tubing, ziplining, volcano / waterfalls, mud bath / hot springs, and a delicious all you can eat buffet for lunch. We did that all in one day still with time to return to get a table to watch the sunset and enjoy happy hour drinks. The catamaran tour was the last thing we did – between boating into the sunset, seeing humpback whales on the way, an excellent crew, a five hour open bar and a delicious dinner, snorkeling, kayaking.. our time was amazing.
It was our four year anniversary, my girlfriend and I, and everything went so perfectly. Paul made an excellent recommendation for dinner for the last night and I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide and friend to have for our vacation in Costa Rica. I HIGHLY recommend booking tours through Paul and listening to what he has to say and recommend for you.

If you want to get a lot of activities in one day the full day tour is the way to go.You get picked up at your hotel and on the way to your activity the tour guides Paul and Ronald tell you all about Costa Rica. Once you get to the activity site the fun begins.We zipped lined,rode horseback,white water tubed,had lunch,went to the water falls and then finished the day with a mud bath and hot springs.So not only did we learn a lot about Costa Rica ,thanks to Paul and Ronald, we had a blast doing it! We looked at a couple of tours and decided on Blue Crab Adventures with Ronald. He was right outside our resort at Dira on the beach. We highly recommend the combo which included also a horseback ride but we didn’t want to that so he let us replace that with a private tour to a waterfall​ just my husband and I. Ronald was so kind and so proud of his country and taught us about Costa Rica it’s nature and culture. My family and I were assisted by Paul during our tour. We were driven around in an oversized, very comfortable van that included Air conditioning (which was a huge plus!). Paul was very informative and knew his way around which had been very impressive. The all day tour included zip lining, Tubing, horseback riding, hot springs/mud bath and of course gorgeous views ,along with a wonderful lunch in a nice dining area. Driving into town we saw signs for Blue Crab Tours so we decided to give them a call. I visited Costa Rica for the first time with a few of my close friends in December 2016, for vacation. Blue Crab organized two trips for us during our stay. We wanted to do everything but had limited days there. We chose the Full Adventure Combo (which I HIGHLY suggest). This included a horseback ride, tubing down the lazy river, zip lining through the forest, a volcanic mud bath, and relaxing in the natural hot springs. Those experiences were 100% worth the price! We enjoyed our first tour so much with Paul, that we decided to book another! Our second tour, Paul also organized. We went on an ATV ride through the forests and breathtaking beaches of Costa Rica. We went on a full-day adventure with Blue Crab which was excellent fun and a custom made early morning sunrise horse ride! Very well organized from start to finish. Professional, top of the line staff. All six of us, children included loved every minute.
On the adventure day we ziplined through beautiful canyons, rode horses through the jungle, did a wonderful tubing trip down a beautiful river watching white-faced monkeys swinging above us, we experienced a secluded stunning water fall where we could dive in and swim- so refreshing. This was all topped off with a volcanic mud bath and soaking hot springs. 10 out of 10! Worth every penny.
The horse ride another day was stunning. Very sweet, calm, well trained horses that even the beginners amongst us felt comfortable riding. An early morning stunning ride along the beach, down the coast, up the mountain for stunning views of the bay. Golden experience.
This company is the go to for any travel experience needs. Paul and Ronald are excellent at what they do and know exactly how to create the experience you are looking for. A brilliant team.

My husband and I recently went to Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We heard about Blue Crab Water Adventures and Tours before we left the US. We emailed Paul, the owner, prior to our visit. He was great and answered all our questions! He recommended the all day excursion which included horseback riding, tubing, zip lining, water falls and hot springs! I was so happy that is what we decided to do! It was a full day, but it was well worth it! Paul picked us up at the hotel and we spent the day at Ricon de la Vieja National Park. Everything was within the same area so it was very convenient. We had such a blast and Paul was a great host! It was a great value ($150/pp) and lunch was included! On the way home we stopped in Tamarinda to watch the sunset! I would highly recommend this company! There is something for everyone. They are very professional and want to make sure that you have a great time!

My friend and I booked a 12 day vacation to Tamarindo, a bit worried that without being able to speak Spanish we wouldn’t be able to do much! That changed the moment we got off the plane and Paul was there to greet us! He took us to our hotel pointing out places for us to eat, shop and ATMs to get money. He told us all about Costa Rica. It was extremely helpful that he spoke English and was so knowledgable. We decided to book a full day adventure tour with his company the next day.
It was, by far, the best day I had all vacation. We took a beautiful drive, went horseback riding, zip lining, tumbling, waterfall jumping, and ended with a mud bath and a dip in the hot springs. It was so much fun, and very safe. After the tubing adventure I got sick, due to heat. Paul was very accommodating and offered to get me a ride back to the hotel where I could rest. Luckily, I was able to push through and it was a day I will never forget. We also booked a catamaran sunset cruise that included lunch, open bar and snorkeling. A fun, beautiful day that ended with one of Costa Rica’s breathtaking sunsets.
We will definitely be returning to Costa Rica and plan to book with Blue Crab again. I highly recommend Paul and Ronald, they made our vacation more than we could have imagined!

A couple of girlfriends and I traveled to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Going there we knew we wanted to do some excursions and activities, so our hotel referred us to Blue Crab Water Adventures and Tours. We spoke with Paul and he was great! He helped us pick the right activities. We chose the Full Day Adventure. It included: tubing, zip lining, horse back riding, hot springs and a volcanic bath. By far the best excursion package I have ever done! Not to mention the lunch they give us was delicious. It was nice to get all those activities done in one day, so we were able to lounge at the beach for the rest of the trip. We also did an open bar catamaran ride where we were able to snorkel, paddle board, kyak and watch the sunset. Paul also gave us recommendations on good restaraunts and bars in Tamarindo, they were all great! He’s really your one stop tour guide for Tamarindo!

Our driver and guide Dave was fantastic and interactive and a pleasure to spend the day with. No waiting between activities, picked up and dropped off at each activity. All of our belongings were secure with Dave and basically we just did not have any worries all day…only fun! I was a bit worried taking a day for combined activity tour (zipline, horseback riding, tubing, mud baths), but it really mad eour Costa Rica trip! Paul at Blue Crab walked us thru what to expect and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. What made it great ~
1. Well laid out tour:not too much waiting, good amount of time at each activity, well coordinated
2. Lunch; was pleasantly surprised by the lunch atmosphere and quality of the buffet.
3. Conditions: was thinking it would be too hot and buggy to enjoy….not an issue for us the day we went.
4. Paul/Blue Crab: Paul gave us great view on Costa Rica in the car ride from the resort, so that we felt getting away from the resort allowed us to better understand / experience Costa Rica. Special props for hanging out with the scared girl allowing her parents to enjoy the zipline section!
Only negative:
Van used for transportation had low windows so i was tired by end looking out window.

Upon arriving in Tamarindo Costa Rica, I had so much planned for an incredible vacation and Blue Crab Tamarindo made this all possible. After a long flight, my group and I were excited to be greeted by a friendly face of one of blue crab’s finest, Paul. His excitement towards this beautiful place and the plans he had for us for the next seven days made me overjoyed.
The convenient shuttle service allowed us to travel to destinations at ease and comfortably. Throughout the seven days, we were able to zip line, horseback ride, view beautiful waterfalls, tube down rapids, ATV, and my favorite…visit the hot springs and mud baths. On top of these exciting and unforgettable adventures, we set sail on a catamaran and enjoyed the unbeatable Costa Rican sun set.
I was so happy we were able to fit all these wonderful adventures in, and also have time to relax and enjoy everything else Costa Rica has to offer.
When I return, there is no other company I would use besides Blue Crab Tamarindo. Paul created such a wonderful itinerary for us. It allowed us to sit back, relax, and enjoy the wonders of Costa Rica. He truly did make our trip unforgettable.
